Nearby Communities

Takysie Lake is 50 km (31 mi) south of the town of Burns Lake on Highway 35. The traveller has to traverse Francois Lake on a 15 minute ferry ride and the roads are paved. The name 'Takysie' means 'lake of many fishes' and the lake is 7 kim (4-1/2 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide. The abundance of Takysie Lake fish will excite even the non-fisherman as each day the fish rise and leap from the water for their daily meal. Loons are often heard making their distinctive calls and eagles frequently soar overhead.
