Apex Mountain Resort is a charming village that has a reputation as one of North America's finest ski destinations. Nestled at the base of spectacular Apex Mountain, the village basks in a picturesque backdrop, with 1,112 acres of ideal fall-line skiing and snowboarding suitable for all skill levels.


Location

Apex Mountain Resort is located in the Okanagan Region of British Columbia, and is easily accessible by both air and ground transportation. It is 405 kilometres east of Vancouver and only 33 kilometres west of Penticton.

A 35 minute drive from the Penticton Regional Airport makes Apex Mountain Resort the closest interior ski resort to an airport. The Kelowna airport is approximately 90 minutes from Apex Mountain Resort. Airport transfers and car rental packages provide several options for ground transportation between airports and the resort.

Drive times to Apex are 2.5 hours from Big White, 2.25 hours from Silver Star, 3.5 hours from Sun Peaks and Spokane, 4.5 hours from Vancouver, 6 hours from Seattle, and 8 hours from Calgary.

  • The Mountain Shop

    Located in the Apex Mountain Village, The Mountain Shop provides a wide selection of ski and snowboard clothing, apres ski wear, ski and snowboard equipment, and souvenirs. You will always find what you are looking for. The Mountain Shop is stocked with the latest and greatest in the industry. Come in and give the full line of demo skis a try!

  • The Rental Shop

    Located in the Apex Mountain Village, The Rental Shop has over 400 pairs of regular, high performance and children's ski rental sets. The snowboard rental fleet is larger than ever before to accommodate the increasing number of new snowboarders. Snowblades and skate rentals are also available.

  • Fresh Tracks Cafe and Catering

    Slide into this unique Ski-In and Ski-Out coffee shop at the base of the ski runs. Offering the best in specialty coffees and homemade baking, Fresh Tracks also serves great soups, stews, wraps and mounth-watering breakfast bagels. Specializing also in catering and vegetarian. Open early everyday for breakfast, lunch, and apres-ski.

  • The Longshot Pasta Bar

    Serving a wide range of delicious pasta with homemade sauces. Entrees start at just $11. Don't forget the "Build Your Own Pasta" -- a massive 3/4 pound portion for only $12, and $7 for kids 12 and under. Don't forget to save room for some yummy dessert, such as Tiramisu for only $7! Hours: Thursday - Saturday from 11am-10pm, Sunday from 11am-8pm. Come for dinner with the family or relax in the lounge area with a great cocktail.

  • The Gunbarrel Saloon

    Come for the best of summer and later, for the light, dry, deep, powder. Stay for what is the #1 Ski Bar in Canada! Located in the centre of the village, the Gunbarrel Saloon guarantees the best fine-dining experience in the Okanagan. In the Dining Room, try the legendary Gunbarrel coffee: flaming Grand Marnier poured down a Doublebarrel Shotgun into an assortment of fine liqueurs and coffee. This alone will keep you coming back!


Things to Do

  • Skiing

    In under six minutes, the high-speed quad chairlift takes you to the top of the mountain. From there, you can access 1,112 acres of magnificent fall-line skiing and snowboarding.

    While Apex has more than its share of challenges for expert skiers, with 67 runs, the area also offers beginner and intermediate skiers an inspirational experience on gentle rolling cruisers, groomed to perfection. Guests will love the Snow Sport and Adventure Centre, an innovative service, which incorporates the Ski and Snowboard School and the Rippin Rascals Kid's Club and is the central reservations point for all resort activities.


Events

  • Christmas Eve Celebrations

    The Christmas Eve Celebration at the Apex Mountain Village features a Torchlight Parade & Fireworks, as well as the arrival of Santa Claus to hand out presents. There's also complimentary hot chocolate around the bonfire. The celebration starts at 6:00pm.

  • Annual Apex Shootout Hockey Tournament

    January - Come check out all the fast-paced hockey action as teams go head-to-head on the NHL-sized outdoor rink.

  • Annual Chili Cook-Off

    March - Prepare a batch of your best "Secret Recipe" Chili and enter it into this for a chance to win the "Tasters Choice" award for best chili maker at the resort. Proceeds year will be donated to the SOAR Foundation.

  • Annual Downhill Dummy Day

    March - This traditional year-end event takes place at the Airsite. Build a dummy and watch it fly and crash land in a spectacular way! Weigh in (max weight 250lbs) will be @ 10am at the bottom of the Tbar, with the launch getting underway at 11am.
