July 2005 saw the release of this the third generation of consumer web sites representing lodging (www.lodging.bc.ca), campgrounds (www.camping.bc.ca) and travel in British Columbia (www.travel-british-columbia.com).

The lodging and camping sites have now taken on the branded image of Super Camping and Select Lodging and allow the consumer to quickly locate a member property in the town or region they wish to visit. Select Lodging also adds the ability to search by room availability for those members enrolled on the reservation system.

The Travel British Columbia site is aimed at the touring consumer. BCLCA’s research shows that the touring consumer offers the best opportunity to lure tourists to all parts of the province and to book at BCLCA member properties. Therefore the travel site has strong cross-links to both Super Camping and Select Lodging. Comprehensive information on the six tourism regions, their sub-regions and communities, as well as major circle tour routes and travel resources, maps, photos and more provide the consumer with all the tools needed to plan their vacation.

First launched in 1996, the lodging and camping sites recorded 210,000 and 156,000 visits respectively for the year ended December 2005. The travel British Columbia site, which was launched in 2000, received 137,500 visits for the same time period.

To list on either the www.lodging.bc.ca and/or www.camping.bc.ca web sites accommodations must be located in British Columbia, be accommodation approved by Tourism BC and be a member in good standing with the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association. The web profile is included as part of membership and a $25 annual fee is charged for a hotlink. If you offer both camping and lodging a second listing may be purchased on either camping or lodging for $50 per annum.
