Totem Circle Tour is a 2500km (1550mi) tour perfect for those interested in exploring the rich culture of British Columbia's First Nations people. Passing through historic sites and villages will bring you face to face with diverse people, unique art, centuries old stories and fascinating history. Witness the province's most beautiful and awe-inspiring scenery as you travel over land through the heart of the province and sail the Inside Passage down through the coast's magnificent fjords and rainforests.

Port Edward

Just up the road from Prince Rupert on Highway 16 is the quaint fishing village of Port Edward. This is the home of British Columbia's oldest surviving salmon cannery: the North Pacific Historic Fishing Village.

One step on the old pilings on the edge of the mighty Skeena River and you'll know you're stepping back in time. This was designated a National Historic Site in 1989, but the cannery started operations one hundred years before that. See authentic machinery, and experience what living and working in a village was really like.

If you want to stay overnight, rustic accommodations are there, including some of the original bunkhouses that workers slept in! As well, the mess hall's been transformed into a modern day café, complete with the fresh seafood the north coast is famous for.
