HedleyAt its peak, the town of Hedley was a thriving mining town that fed off the gold and copper found in Nickel Plate Mountain. It was home to more than 1,000 residents, boasted five hotels and a “forty stamp” mill that processed ore for more than half a century. Nowadays, this town is home to just 400 residents and the shadows of yesteryear loom throughout the scenery. Ruins of mining buildings can be found on Nickel Plate Mountain, and turn of the century architecture is still prevalent throughout the town. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing stay at one of the private campgrounds or a more pampering stay at a bed and breakfast. |
