Valemount

Valemount – the northernmost point of the Thompson Okanagan is on the steps of magnificent Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. This is the perfect place to start exploring this exciting region. Visitors traveling down Highway 5 will be greeted by the first British Columbia community to be designated as a SuperHost Community, dedicated to providing its visitors with quality service and some of the most exciting adventures in British Columbia.

Expect small-town hospitality in Valemount with all the visitor services needed to make your visit memorable. Accommodations including motels and cabins to modern RV and backcountry camping make it the perfect overnight stop. Heli-hiking, horseback riding, golfing and whitewater rafting can fill a visitor’s itinerary while in Valemount.

Late summer brings an incredible natural phenomenon, the annual migration of the spawning Chinook salmon. This incredible journey can be witnessed along the banks of Swift Creek in George Hicks Regional Park. For avid bird watchers a walk along dikes and adjacent woodlands at R.W. Wildlife Sanctuary provide access to viewing towers where the rich life of the wetland can be observed, as migrating birds flock to the area.

Winter brings mountains of snow and Valemount is a destination with world-class snowmobiling to offer. While sledding is superb in Valemount there are other winter activities, such as cross-country skiing, dog sledding, heli-skiing and snowcat-skiing which are sure to keep every member of the family busy.
