The annual Canadian RVing and Camping Week ran from Tuesday, May 24 to Sunday, May 29,2016 and was a huge success. More than 200 campgrounds and thousands of campers coast-to-coast, with 33 parks located in British Columbia, participated in the annual event that showcased all that Canadian camping has to offer.
Canadian RVing and Camping Week is designed to encourage Canadians and international visitors to get outside to enjoy a fun, safe and secure camping experience with family and friends. To encourage campers, participating campgrounds offered either, a special discounted rate of $50 for two nights May 28 and 29, or stay five for the price of four.
On Saturday, May 28, campgrounds across Canada came together and helped raise funds for Make-A-Wish® Canada with a Wish garden event. Go RVing Canada and Canadian Camping and RV Council partnered with Make-A-Wish Canada to stage the coast-to-coast fundraising initiative, with a stated goal of raising $20,000 to help wishes come true for children facing life-threatening medical conditions.

Campers helped by purchasing a $2 LED Wish lantern or by making a larger donation for the lantern at the participating Canadian campgrounds, with all proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish Canada. At 10:00 pm (local time), campers gathered at the parks to make their personal Wish, then placed their lantern to create a Wish garden to shine a light for Make-A-Wish Canada.
It is not too late to contribute and campers can make a direct donation online to fund the work of Make-A-Wish Canada. As of June 8, 2016 the total was over $5,800 with a number of campgrounds and dealers still to report.
Mark your calendar for May 23 to May 28, 2017 to participate in this annual event celebrating the RVing and camping lifestyle.
