Train and Rail Services

There are opportunities to travel by passenger train in British Columbia. Travellers can get around Metro Vancouver by rail to see the sites or travel to other destinations by scheduled services or sightseeing excursions.

Metro Vancouver Commuting

Daily commuters in Metro Vancouver use the Westcoast Express and Skytrain, which are both operated by Translink. These trains have daily schedules and are a good way to travel around the cities.

VIA Rail

Via Rail services 400 communities across Canada including rapid intercity services, cross-Canada services, and services to remote communities.

In Western Canada, VIA provides year-round, all-weather services, including the legendary Canadian train operating between Toronto and Vancouver. VIA Rail also operates regional services in the West, between Jasper, Alberta and Prince Rupert, British Columbia.

Rocky Mountaineer

Rocky Mountaineer offers stunning vacation packages in the Canadian Rockies with five distinctive rail routes, rich in history and natural wonders, through British Columbia and Alberta. This world renowned, luxurious train travels by daylight through the wild beauty of Canada's West and is the best way to experience the majestic Canadian Rockies, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Amtrak provides connecting passenger service to Vancouver from points across the US, via Washington State. Direct service is offered between Seattle, Washington, or Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver.
