Big Lake Ranch

    A Step Back in Time

Big Lake Ranch was established in the 1890s by a man named William Parker. The ranch provided early stagecoach and express services and ran cattle, before eventually being subdivided and sold. Over time, it has turned into the small community of Big Lake.

Big LakBig Lake - Horseback riding - Tourism British Columbiae is located in the Central Cariboo region of British Columbia, along a scenic stretch of Likely Road.

Turn northeast off Hwy 97 on to Horsefly Road at 150 Mile House which is 14 km (9 mi) south of Williams Lake, keep left to Likely and continue to Big Lake.

    Things to See and Do
    • Fishing

The lake from which the community derives its name is an excellent source for Kokanee salmon, rainbow trout, and lake char. The lake char can grow to a whopping 30 lbs, and some rainbow trout have been caught weighing as much as 12 lbs. The most popular fishing method used is trolling, but fly fishing and spin casting are also seen here. Early and late summer are the best times to visit.

    • Water Sports

The lake is ideal for water activities including swimming, tubing, and water-skiing.
